This is a country that has always experienced either conflict or dictatorship. The latest war broke out in 1996. At the height of the war, the armies of nine African countries were either directly or indirectly involved in the DRC. A vast country with immense economic resources, the Democratic Republic of Congo has been at the centre of what could be termed Africa’s world war.
