The African continent is beseeched by many problems key amongst these is poverty. It should be noted that most of the people affected by poverty are peasants. The gravity of this problem is realized when it’s noticed that about eighty percent of Africans are peasants, therefore, poverty affects the majority of Africans. Agriculture, which is the primary mode of subsistence of peasants, is as such, the most important vocation that is available for poverty alleviation; or rather agriculture is the most critical industry in the African continent. The Agricultural Economist, as such, is a very important person in the development of agriculture and the alleviation of poverty in the African continent.
